Halftime: Ravens' Torrey Smith takes flight
By Jamison Hensley
DENVER -- The Ravens are tied with the top-seeded Broncos because Torrey Smith continues to beat Denver cornerback Champ Bailey.
Smith has scored two touchdowns against the 12-time Pro Bowl defender, reaching the end zone on catches of 59 and 32 yards. His last score tied the game with 36 seconds left in the first half and came after Broncos kicker Matt Prater missed badly on a 52-yard field-goal attempt.
This is the first time that a Ravens receiver scored two touchdowns in one playoff game. Smith has 91 yards on two catches and could've had more if Joe Flacco didn't overthrow him twice.
Flacco, who was 10-of-17 for 175 yards, had time to get the ball to Smith because he got surprisingly great pass protection. He has yet to get sacked in the game.
The Ravens defense, which ranked second in the NFL in red zone defense, allowed two touchdowns inside the 20-yard line in the first half. Peyton Manning had touchdown throws of 15 and 14 yards.
