Steelers in talks to trade for Cards OT

By Scott Brown

PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers appear to be on the verge of replacing one underachieving left tackle with another.

The team is in talks with Arizona to acquire Cardinals offensive tackle, Levi Brown, a league source told ESPN.

A trade for Brown would signal the end of the Mike Adams experiment at left tackle. Adams, a second-round pick in 2012, moved from right to left tackle in the offseason, and he has struggled to protect quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s blind side.

Jared Allen dominated Adams in the Steelers’ 34-27 loss to Minnesota last Sunday, recording 2.5 of the Vikings’ 5 sacks.

There are questions about how much of an upgrade Brown would be if the Steelers trade for him.

The 6-6, 324-pounder has never lived up to expectations in Arizona despite 79 of his 81 career games with the Cardinals.

The Cardinals took Brown with the fifth overall pick of the 2007 NFL draft, bypassing running back Adrian Peterson to bolster their offensive line.

Brown, a former Penn State star, started every game from  2008-2011 but missed all of last season because of a triceps injury.
