Robinson played 14 games for the New Orleans last season and started six of them. The 5-11, 194-pounder intercepted two passes and was credited with 11 passes defended.
The Steelers have been very quiet through the first 24 hours of free agency.
They have yet to sign a player since free agency started and have lost McCain while outside linebacker Jason Worilds announced his surprising retirement Tuesday night.
The Steelers have scheduled a visit with running back DeAngelo Williams on Friday.
A couple of notes.
The Steelers cleared around $3.5 million in salary-cap space when they restructured center Maurkice Pouncey's contract. Pouncey’s 2015 cap hit will be around $4.663 million, according to ESPN Roster Management. It had been $8.1 prior to the Steelers turning bonus money and base salary into a signing bonus.
Here are some contract figures for the two players the Steelers re-signed prior to the start of free agency. Outside linebacker Arthur Moats signed a three-year contract worth as much as $7.5 million, according to ESPN Roster Management, and it includes a $1.9 signing bonus. Tight end Matt Spaeth signed a two-year, $2.2 million contract with a $275,000 signing bonus. The signing bonuses are the only guarantees in each deal. Moats’ cap hits are roughly $1.483 million in 2015, $3.133 in 2016 and $2.883 million in 2017. Spaeth’s cap hits are roughly $1.063 million and $1.138 million.
