Three things: Jaguars at Eagles

Three things I’ll be looking for in Jaguars at Eagles:

David Garrard under pressure: Starting tackles Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton are out, which likely means Garrard will have to make good, quick decisions to stay out of trouble. Can he? When the pressure comes from the outside, he’s got a tendency to move backward or sideways in attempts to dodge or escape. If the interior guys do their jobs he should have room to step up and throw. I’d like to see him do it.

Other running backs: It wouldn’t make a lot of sense to use Maurice Jones-Drew much with the tackles down, so we should see pretty good doses of the next best running backs. The team is clearly high on Deji Karim. But the sixth-rounder out of Southern Illinois’ not gong to get in front of last year’s hot rookie back, Rashad Jennings, without a big preseason showing.

Top rookie: The Jaguars drafted defensive linemen with their first four picks. But Tyson Alualu, D’Anthony Smith and Austen Lane are out injured. That means we can focus on fifth-round end Larry Hart. Does he generate any pressure. While we’re at it, does Derrick Harvey?
