Slaton's new agent fired up to get him

Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky

Agent Harold Lewis confirmed Profootballtalk.com's report that Steve Slaton is now one of his clients.

The way I read our e-mail exchange, Lewis' National Sports Agency won't be pressing for a new contract right out of the gate.

Here's what he said in response to my question about his hopes for Slaton at this point:

"WE ARE ALL SO EXCITED TO HAVE HIM PART OF OUR FAMILY ..WE ALL KNEW WHAT A TALENT HE WAS ON THE FIELD, BUT THIS KID IS EVEN BETTER OFF THE FIELD!!!! OUR ENTIRE TEAM HERE AT NSA TRULY FEELS BLESSED TO HAVE HIM..."

"OUR HOPE FOR HIM IS THAT HE WILL JUST GET BETTER AND BETTER EVERY WEEK, AND HELP HIS TEAM TO THE PLAYOFFS AND BEYOND ...AND AFTER REALLY GETTING TO KNOW HIM, I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT WILL HAPPEN....OF COURSE WITH SUCCESS COMES GREAT "NEW " CONTRACTS....AND NOTHING MAKES ME HAPPIER THEN THAT!!!!"

"STAY TUNED..."

Slaton left Ethan Lock and Eric Metz to sign with Lewis.

As a rookie, the electric Slaton carried 268 times for 1,282 yards and nine touchdowns. He also had 50 catches for 377 yards and a touchdown.
