ATLANTA -- Greetings from Georgia, where I'm lined up to have another look at the Titans tonight.
While Tennessee is downplaying the struggles of Vince Young last week and his inconsistency through camp, the Titans would still like for their quarterback to look sharp tonight and quash some of the exterior concerns. If he's outplayed by Matt Ryan, the amplitude of the debate over Young's progress -- or lack of it -- will rise again in Nashville.
Now for a pregame waltz around the division.
Houston Texans
- The Texans are better than we thought, writes SI.com's Michael Lombardi.
- A preseason game means a little more to the Texans when they are playing the Cowboys. Expect three quarters from the starters for both teams, says John McClain.
- Chester Pitts calls Kris Brown "a football player," a compliment when directed at a kicker.
- Fullback Cook was jailed on a marijuana charge.
Indianapolis Colts
- If Ryan Lilja's recovery from knee surgery doesn't speed up, the Colts could use Charlie Johnson and Mike Pollak as their guards on opening day, according to Mile Chappell.
- Adam Vinatieri will have to figure out quickly how the ball sails in Lucas Oil Stadium.
Jacksonville Jaguars
- Story of the day: Fred Taylor may be 32, but he's not your regular over-30 running back, writes Vito Stellino. (Taylor says of his diet: "I cheat in moderation." Love it. Wish I could match it.
- If Reggie Hayward is solid, Derrick Harvey loses leverage, Stellino postulates.
- Can Hayward return to being an every-down defensive end? Vic Ketchman of Jaguars.com examines the question.
Tennessee Titans
- Alge Crumpler returns to the Georgia Dome as a Tennessee Titan and Jim Wyatt looks at how the tight end is fitting in so far.
