Matt Schaub said he felt like he had time for things to develop against a Titans defense that’s harassed him in the past, one of the keys to hitting so many big plays in Sunday’s 34-31 win in Nashville.
“I was pretty comfortable the whole game," he told KILT in Houston. “It’s a team we know well and as a group they’re a really, good defense. And they rotate a lot of guys on their defensive line, but they’re very active and relentless trying to get to the quarterback. And we know that and our guys stepped up and did a great job fighting their tail off the whole game. And it was just a matter of letting my guys work down the field and we were able to get some deep plays going.”
Things didn’t go great early for the Texans, but they hung in even when they were down two touchdowns and showed good fight pulling even and ultimately ahead against a team that entered the game with an 11-3 all-time record against Houston.
“We just keep it together and keep playing football,” he said. “You know, there was no panic. We just had a sense of urgency to get something going and to get some drives going and just take it down and score. Nobody ever panicked or anything like that. We just kept playing ball, and there’s a lot football to be played. You know, it only the first quarter there, maybe the beginning of the second quarter and we’re just going to keep playing.”
