Assessing the Colts’ backup QB situation if Andrew Luck is injured and misses time.
When the Jets traded for Tim Tebow, it meant the recently added Drew Stanton became expendable. New York pledged to move Stanton to a better situation, and Indianapolis traded for him. He hardly has the kind of experience you’d like in a veteran who needs to be ready to step in without the benefit of a lot of practice reps, which you want going to the No. 1 pick in the draft. Stanton has played in 12 games, throwing nine interceptions and five touchdowns while completing under 56 percent of his passes. The other option is Chandler Harnish, but it’s hard to imagine the seventh-rounder won’t be either a third-stringer or a practice-squader.
