HOUSTON -- The new offseason restrictions mean coaches only get 10 organized team activities sessions.
Even so, notorious players coach Gary Kubiak took his team onto the practice field today without helmets.
He didn’t like what he saw and he told them at the conclusion of practice.
“I took their helmets off today and gave them a little bone, so to speak, and they didn’t respond to it,” Kubiak said. “Last year’s team responded to it very well. This year’s team's first chance wasn’t very good. I told them I’ll give them one more chance tomorrow and there won’t be any more [if it’s not better].
"2011 is over, it’s 2012 and we’ve got a lot of work to do. And our expectations as a football team stay the same all the time.”
It would be a mistake to read anything into one down day.
But it will be interesting to see if the team takes the field Thursday morning with extra pep. It certainly should.
