I suspect Matt Schaub's medical checkup was a mere formality. The Texans have said all along that his surgically repaired right foot would be fine when the team reports for training camp July 27.
Now there is confirmation that he’s good to go.
There are a ton of people facing giant years in the AFC South. Schaub is certainly near the top of the list.
He returns from an injury and gets back into the huddle for a team coming off its first playoff berth and is heavily favored to win the AFC South, despite questions about the right side of the offensive line and the receiving corps beyond Andre Johnson.
Schaub will be playing for a new contract, as this is the last year of his current deal.
I suspect he’s the long-term quarterback for coach Gary Kubiak and GM Rick Smith no matter what. But how he plays this season will go a long way in determining the size of a new contract.
