Reggie Wayne knows how to make an entrance.
Wayne His training camp arrival and the theme that comes with it are an annual event. You can trace the tone he looks to set -- it typically courses through the Colts’ season.
From Mike Chappell’s report on Wayne’s camp arrival in Anderson, Ind.
It’s classic, it’s fitting, it’s perfect.
It’s a theme the team can use as a touchstone throughout a transitional camp -- which has its first practice today -- and a transitional year.
From Mike Chappell’s report on Wayne’s camp arrival in Anderson, Ind.
Saturday morning, Wayne's latest communiqué was preceded by a convoy of three Humvees and included seven members of the Indiana National Guard.
Wayne, wearing military fatigues, climbed out of one of the camouflaged Humvees and snapped to attention.
"Reggie Wayne, reporting for duty!"
He saluted, grabbed his backpack and walked a few brisk paces before being slowed by media as players reported to Anderson University for the start of training camp.
There was purpose behind the grand entrance.
"I don't want people to look at this like it's a joke, a gimmick," Wayne said. "I fully support our military and I'm taking a page out of their book. I want our team to take a page out of their book. These guys are what you call true heroes.
"The military are selfless workers and definitely there for each other. They go out there and make it happen no matter what the situation is and that's what we have to do. We have to go out and make it happen no matter the obstacles in our path. We've got to find a way to get around it and keep moving."
It’s classic, it’s fitting, it’s perfect.
It’s a theme the team can use as a touchstone throughout a transitional camp -- which has its first practice today -- and a transitional year.
