We’ve got to open it up a little more. Pass protection and ineffective receivers have long been cited as big problems in the development of Blaine Gabbert. That’s let the coaches off the hook too often. We run plays with everyone or virtually everyone at or near the line of scrimmage. What kind of prehistoric offense is that? Are we so lacking in talent that at a time where teams are spreading things out and slinging it we need to pack it in? Or do we think going opposite is the right way to work things? Mike Mularkey came here with a reputation of being conservative, and he’s living up to it. It’s too much. (Or too little.) We’ve shown we can lose playing this kind of ball. Why not see if things are as bad if we open things up?
