A second-half collapse wasn’t enough to undo the Texans’ good efforts on Sunday, and their win over San Francisco put them at 4-3.

ESPN Stats & Information reports this is just the second time the Texans are over .500 after seven games.

In 2004, they started 4-3. From there they lost 31-13 at Denver, 49-14 at Indianapolis and 16-13 against Green Bay.

The Texans' next three this time: at Buffalo, at Indianapolis and, after a bye week, against the Titans at Reliant Stadium.

We say it every time Houston climbs into a good spot, but we’ll say it again: Now’s the time for the Texans to prove themselves a legitimate AFC playoff threat.

A couple asides out of the win over the 49ers:
  • Houston has won seven of its last 10 against NFC teams and five straight at home against NFC teams.
  • Matt Schaub’s two touchdown passes put him at 16 for the season, surpassing his career high of 15 set last year in 11 games.
