The Jacksonville Jaguars have fewer proven veterans than most teams.
Jason Babin definitely qualifies as one of them, and looks to be a leading candidate for significant time at the team’s Leo spot, its primary rush position.
Babin was having trouble with his groin, got a second opinion in Philadelphia, and elected to have surgery. The operation was performed Tuesday morning.
Coach Gus Bradley said he expects Babin to be ready for training camp.
“Ready for training camp” are the key words for any player in need of late spring surgery.
The Jaguars need Babin to be a productive tone-setter for them this season. It’s best if he can take on that role from the first snap of camp. If they need to be cautious with him at the start, however, that is fine if it increases the chances he’ll be ready to go on opening day against Kansas City.
