NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Jaguars clearly didn’t think they could run against the Titans out of the gate in the Oct. 4 game. They hardly tried and it wound up feeling like a day off for Maurice Jones-Drew.
The passing game’s hardly been as good Sunday at LP Field, and from the perspective of Jaguars faithful the big question through much of the first half was, “Where is MJD?” He emerged to break at least three tackles on his first carry, which he took for an 80-yard TD run that made the score 13-7, Titans.
It remains so at the half.
That 80-yard scamper tied Fred Taylor’s franchise record for longest run.
So here are the two big second-half questions from the Jaguars’ point of view:
What can the Jaguars do to make Vince Young less comfortable? He played a pretty good first half and clearly gained confidence. Jack Del Rio, defensive coordinator Mel Tucker and their troops now have to find a way to create a bit of doubt for the Titans’ new starting quarterback.
How can they get Jones-Drew involved to provide him with chances to skirt more tackles and perhaps open things up for the rest of the offense? Certainly he can help them improve on time of possession, which they lost 22:08-7:52 in the first half.
