"I started practice but I didn't finish," Heyward-Bey told ESPN's Josina Anderson. "The trainers decided to hold me back because right now I am day-to-day. The training staff and I did a good job of communicating out there. We just decided to shut it down for the day and hopefully give it another try tomorrow. I felt good enough to go out there and give it a try, so far I just haven't been able to go full-go yet. I did make it to a good amount of the first team period in 11-on-11 in pads. It is always good to get out there and do something."
Heyward-Bey, who signed with the Colts during the offseason, injured his knee in practice last weekend. An MRI done on his knee came back negative. Heyward-Bey dressed and took part in some drills in practice Tuesday night and received treatment on his knee on the team's off day Wednesday.
The Colts didn't have an update on tight end Dwayne Allen, who is dealing with foot injury.
