NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Jurrell Casey set a big goal before the season. The Tennessee Titans defensive tackle wanted to record more than 18 sacks, the record for an interior defensive lineman.

Keith Millard, the Titans' pass-rush coach, recorded 18 sacks for Minnesota in 1989.

Casey heads into Tennessee’s final game with a team-best 10.5 sacks, more than twice the next best number on the team, Derrick Morgan has five.

But Casey said he’d be around Millard’s number if he had taken advantage of all his chances.

“I’m just a little upset that I left a lot out there,” he said. “I had an opportunities to get to the record and I missed it. ... I missed a great number of them, maybe eight or nine. It’s something I have to build on next year and make sure I get to the quarterback constantly.

“It’s a number of different things, I had a couple where I let him slip out of my grasp, there were a couple where I just missed by a second, I should have beaten my guy a tad bit quicker. Those things I’ve got to build on.”

He’s the Titans' best candidate for the Pro Bowl. Fan voting has concluded. Coaches and players voted this week. Each ballot counts one-third.

“I do feel like I earned a spot. I work hard year-in, year-out, and I think it’s time for me to get my recognition that I deserve. But at the end of the day it’s not my decision.”
