From his perch at the Super Bowl, yesterday John McClain of the Houston Chronicle offered this nugget:

When McClain, who has covered the Houston Texans since before they were born, goes this strong on something, it's worth noting. He did have DeAndre Hopkins to the Texans in his final mock draft last season.
But if the Texans have indeed decided to take a quarterback with the top pick without having decided who that is, that means they believe there are multiple quarterbacks in the draft who could be a franchise player.
There is no other reason to take a quarterback first overall. You have to be sure.
