Plenty of people, including owner Bud Adams, think the Titans needed to get Vince Young in the lineup to be sure they had an accurate read on what they had.

The silver lining of Justin Gage's back injury helps the cause.

Kenny Britt moves up a notch and will start opposite Nate Washington while Gage is out. One way to get a real sense of the 2006 first-round pick (Young) is to see what kind of relationship he can develop with the 2009 first-round draft pick (Britt).

Britt’s been impressive in spurts, but hasn’t always gotten on the field a lot as the third wide receiver. He's the fourth-leading rookie pass-catcher in the AFC with 20 catches for 296 yards.

Now we’ll get to see him with a full workload.

We also may see Lavelle Hawkins, the 2008 fourth-rounder who’s done little to date. He didn’t earn the coaches' trust for a long time, but Mike Heimerdinger said this week he has a lot more confidence in Hawkins.

The Titans could also try to use rookie tight end Jared Cook, who had a big preseason but disappeared after an ankle injury sidetracked him.
