The Titans showed a giant finishing kick at LP Field, putting away the Bills on Sunday for their third consecutive win, a 41-17 thrashing.

Tied at 17-17 entering the fourth quarter, the Titans poured it on with a flurry that included two interception returns for scores by member of the much maligned secondary.

Vincent Fuller, a steady presence who was missed when he was out with a broken arm, and Rod Hood, a late roster addition who now has a pick in three consecutive games, both found the end zone.

The Titans missed Fuller, their nickelback, who was out for three games with a broken forearm. They didn’t add Hood until it was brutally clear rookies Jason McCourty and Ryan Mouton weren’t ready to be on the field with the defense while Nick Harper (still recovering from a broken forearm) and Cortland Finnegan (who missed three games with a bad hamstring) were out.

The even bigger story against Buffalo was how the Titans rammed the ball down the throat of the league’s worst run-defense team. Chris Johnson turned 26 carries into 132 yards and two scores, and got into more open space on nine receptions for an additional 100 yards.

Good defense and a top-flight run game allows for the quarterback to simply manage the game, just like the Jeff Fisher likes to draw it up. Vince Young moved to 3-0 since taking over with another efficient performance. He threw his first pick as a starter in 2009 (he had one in relief against the Patriots), but also had a touchdown toss to Nate Washington and topped 200 yards passing for the first time.
