I think it’s the right move. They franchised him last year and he was unhappy. The number of nearly $11.5 million is too high for a guy who’s good, not great, and gave up a lot of big plays last year.
He’ll probably be regarded as the top corner on the market, and he’ll probably hit the jackpot, but that doesn’t mean the Texans should have been writing the check.
The Texans drafted two corners last year and were pleased with Glover Quin.
But the loss of Robinson means cornerback is added to their offseason list of needs, which also includes running back, free safety, defensive tackle and interior offensive line.
