Saturday thought EverBank rocked Sunday
By Paul Kuharsky
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- On “Countdown” on ESPN Sunday morning, Mike Ditka said something about how only 25,000 people would see the Jaguars battle the Colts.
But it was no secret the game wasn’t going to be blacked out in the local market. There were 63,111 tickets distributed and on a beautiful 80-degree day, EverBank Field seemed nearly full to me.
The sustained roar after the Jaguars beat the Colts 31-28 on a 59-yard Josh Scobee field goal was on par with wild reactions I’ve heard/felt at many other venues around the league.
And Jeff Saturday said he felt the same way.
“They can be as loud as anybody and they can start rocking the stadium with the de-fense and the ‘We Are Jaguars,’” he said. “They’ve got good fans and they stayed until the end. Your fans will show up if you keep winning games like this.”
Said Scobee: “The fans were unbelievable. That’s the best crowd that I’ve ever been around probably in the seven years I’ve been here. They were truly the 12th man and they got extremely loud there in the 4th quarter, so we can’t thank them enough.”
