It's official: Maude Flanders is Texans fan

It’s official. Maude Flanders of the Simpsons (may she rest in peace) is a fan of the Houston Texans.

The NFL’s great “American Family” ad from Super Bowl Sunday took classic TV characters and turned them into fans of all 32 teams. But some who checked it themselves didn’t find the Texans and concluded that Mrs. Flanders, who’s dead in the show but still makes occasional appearances, is not wearing a Bucs jersey that matches her husband’s (Many presumed it to be LeGarrette Blount's 27) but Arian Foster's Battle Red 23 uniform top.

“We absolutely included all 32 teams and you are correct, Mrs. Flanders (Maude) is wearing a “battle red” Texans jersey, although the blue looks very black on the sleeve,” said Robert Stecklow, the NFL’s director of advertising and media.

“Earlier renderings had a Texans logo on the sleeve, but somehow it fell off. It’s all meant to be a little cartoonish, not perfectly done.”

As for Texans fans not feeling the love, remember Ephraim Salaam and Chester Pitts were featured in a commercial three years ago and Mario Williams was prominent in a “Play 60” commercial last season.
