Jags trade for backup QB McCown

As anticipated, the Jaguars found a trade partner to upgrade their backup quarterback situation.
The team just announced it has acquired Luke McCown from Tampa Bay in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick. The deal is contingent upon McCown passing a physical examination.
It seems likely the team will cut Todd Bouman once the addition becomes official, though it’s possible they’d carry three for a time until McCown is up to speed in their system.
McCown, at 6-3 and 217 pounds, is entering his sixth season in the NFL. The 28-year-old former Louisiana Tech quarterback has been with Tampa Bay for the past four seasons. He has played in 12 career games with seven starts.
Bouman didn’t instill a lot of confidence and while the Jaguars expect big things from David Garrard, it wanted increased security. The team reportedly took a swing at getting Tyler Thigpen in a trade from Kansas City recently, but backed down when the asking price was too high.
