Divisional afternoon check in

Some things you should be aware of around the AFC South this afternoon:
- Jaguars first-round pick Justin Blackmon offered a guilty plea in his DUI case, avoiding jail time in Oklahoma. The receiver is still unsigned.
- The Texans signed third-round offensive lineman Brandon Brooks. They are the first team in the division to get its entire draft class locked up.
- Titans Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews, the team’s offensive line coach, said on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville (my station) that he didn’t think the free-agent centers the team visited with offered a significant upgrade over incumbent Eugene Amano. I sought clarification, asking if one of the players Tennessee courted, Chris Myers of the Texans, would not have been an upgrade. Matthews said not for the “cabbage” it would have cost Tennessee. The team doesn't feel deficient on the interior line, where Amano and guard Leroy Harris remain in line to start, Matthews said.
- Name tags might be a good idea for the Colts when camp starts, writes Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star. “At first glance, it’s an unusual collection: 26 rookies, including 10 draft picks; 54 players in their first season with the Colts (60 percent of the roster); 37 players who have never appeared in a regular-season game.” That’s some major turnover.
