What I think the Texans are thinking
By Paul Kuharsky
What I think they’re thinking (or should be) at the headquarters of the Houston Texans this morning…
We’ll find the right balance between resting happily at 6-1 during our bye and maintaining our edge for when we get back. Things to this point really couldn’t have gone much better. Take out the one dud -- which conveniently came against an NFC team -- and we’ve beaten people by an average score of 32-14. We’ve got all kinds of balance. We’ve got the best defensive player in football in J.J. Watt. We’ve got an ability to find the right mix on offense, though Gary Kubiak said he’d find something wrong that needs fixing, because that’s what he does for a living. Special teams’ issues are our biggest concern, and while we can’t let that stuff linger to the point where it loses us a game, it’s also nice that our primary problem is kick and punt coverage and returns. We’ve wanted this for a long time. We’re hardly where we want to be yet, but we are as far along in getting there as we can be at this point. So it’s OK to pause for a second this week and appreciate the work we've done so far.
