What I think the Titans are thinking
By Paul Kuharsky
What I think they’re thinking (or should be) at the headquarters of the Tennessee Titans this afternoon…
The last two weeks, we’ve actually outscored out opponents 57-54. If only we could redistribute some of those points and instead of having lost a blowout to Chicago and won in a blowout in Miami have won two close games. Then we’d be 5-5 heading into our bye, and it wouldn’t be that difficult to come up with scenarios where our season was still about a playoff push. But with six losses already, we’d have to go 5-1 the rest of the way just to be 9-7. That could be good enough, and we’re going to talk and act like we’ll win at least five down the stretch. But have we done enough to this point to actually believe it in house? The win over the Dolphins was a big-time defensive effort for which we were overdue. And our remaining schedule isn’t filled with offensive juggernauts. It includes two against Jacksonville and a Monday nighter against the Jets. But it’s also got Houston, a rematch with improving Indy and a trip to Lambeau.
