Where they stand in key categories
By Paul Kuharsky
Here's our weekly look at where the teams of the AFC South stand in key categories. I generally consider third-down efficiency super important. And points, of course, tend to trump all.
Some movement of note:
- The Texans' giant offensive output in the overtime win against Jacksonville meant nine-spot leaps in overall offense and passing offense. Chad Henne's big pass production against them means a four-spot dive in pass defense.
- The Colts moved up three spots in third-down offense. But the giant loss in New England meant big drops in pass defense (15th to 20th), third-down defense (12th to 22nd) and points allowed (tied for 15th to 26th).
- The Jaguars fell two spots to 32nd in rushing offense, but improved from 31st to 25th in passing offense. Jacksonville dropped five spots to 31st in overall defense and five spots to 28th overall in pass defense.
