Could we see Texans on opening night?

By Paul Kuharsky

The Baltimore Ravens will host the 2013 NFL regular-season opener.

The guessing about who their opponent will be is well under way.

The Ravens will host the New England Patriots this season, so a rematch of the AFC Championship Game would be giant. I imagine that is the favorite, but you never know what unfolds for the people with the difficult job of making up the schedule.

The other possibilities are other AFC North teams -- the Bengals, the Steelers or the Browns -- or the Texans or Jets.

The Packers and Vikings are also on the Ravens’ home schedule, but history suggests it’ll be an AFC team not an NFC team that visits M&T Bank Stadium on opening night.

Beyond New England, Houston looks to be the most attractive matchup.

If the Texans are scheduled for the game, it won't just be a giant test for the team right out of the gate.

It will mean they’ll have a long week to prepare for Week 2, which could be an advantage beyond the opener.
