What the four first-rounders are saying
By Paul Kuharsky
DeAndre Hopkins on what kind of player he is: "I bring a championship mentality. Whenever the ball is in the air I feel like it’s mine, no matter where it is or who’s around me. I’m a physical wide receiver and I bring a competitive edge to the Texans."
Luke Joeckel on talking with Eugene Monroe: "It was good. Eugene, he’s there to help me out. I realize we’re all offensive linemen in an offensive lineman room. Wherever he goes, probably the closest room on any team. To have five guys working together, you’re only as good as the other four guys you’re playing with and how well you jell with them. He’s just there to help me out. He said if I need anything just let him know. I got his number. I texted with Tony Boselli last night too. He reached out to me last night to say congratulations and all that stuff, and I told him we’ve got to meet for lunch or something like that to talk football and pick his brain a little bit. What an honor it is just to be compared to him and just to go eat lunch with him."
Bjoern Werner on playing as Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis on "Madden": "I was 12, 13, 14, and I played as both those guys. I had my own all-star team. Now I can ask Robert Mathis questions. He can teach me stuff, if he’s willing to. I can’t wait to meet him and tell him that story, too."
Chance Warmack on getting drafted behind guard Jonathan Cooper, who went to Arizona at No. 7: "Everything happens for a reason. I’m definitely happy he went before I did and I’m happy to be with the team I’m with right now."
