Davis: Facing Dolphins is 'another game'
By Mike Wells
INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis is finally getting a chance to face the team that traded him a year ago.
Davis missed last season’s meeting against the Miami Dolphins with a knee injury. But he’ll be on the field trying to slow down their passing game on Sunday.
Davis, like receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey did last week against Oakland, is downplaying the game.
“It’s another game,” Davis said. “This is the NFL. I’ll prepare for Miami like I did for our first game against Oakland, so it’s another game.”
It wasn’t a smooth three seasons in Miami for Davis. He got into a fight with former Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall, got into trouble for violating team rules and then showed up to training camp out of shape last year, which eventually cost him his starting spot and played a part in him being traded.
Davis could have used what happened in Miami as extra motivation Sunday.
Nope. Not interested.
“It’s fun because I actually was in the locker room with some of those guys, so I know a couple of guys there,” Davis said. “But still, it’s still NFL Sunday. We have to go out there and compete like any other Sunday.”
