Power Rankings: No. 32 Jacksonville
By Michael DiRocco
A weekly examination of the Jaguars' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 29 | Last Week: 32 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
Any argument that existed for moving the Jaguars out of the cellar in the ESPN.com Power Rankings after their performance against Denver quickly evaporated this past Sunday. The Jaguars had another abysmal performance at home against San Diego in a 24-6 loss and cemented their hold on No. 32.
The Chargers gained 434 total yards, rushed for 158 yards, converted 58 percent of their third-down attempts (7-for-12), and had a 15-minute edge in time of possession (37:30 to 22:30). Quarterback Philip Rivers completed 22 of 26 passes and had a passer rating of 125.2.
The Jaguars threw for more than 300 yards but managed just two field goals. Receiver Cecil Shorts also dropped two potential touchdown passes.
Unfortunately for the Jaguars, that has been a typical performance at EverBank Field this season. They have been outscored 89-11 at home and haven’t scored a touchdown there since 9:34 remained in the first quarter of a Week 16 game last season.
Up next for the winless Jaguars (0-7) are the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers (5-2) on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London before their bye week.
