RTC: Watt was an 'unsung' star last week
By Tania Ganguli
Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...
Greg Bedard of TheMMQB.com honored the best edge and interior pass-rushers this week. He listed Texans defensive end J.J. Watt as the "unsung interior rusher" of the week. Watt rated second on Bedard's "pressure points" statistic for Week 14 and rates first in the statistic for this season.
The eulogies for the Texans' 2013 season have already begun. Here is one from Josh Mitelman of the Houston Business Journal.
Brian Smith of the Houston Chronicle checks in on rookie DeAndre Hopkins at the three-month anniversary of the best game of his NFL career. Though Hopkins ranks second among rookies in receiving yards and receptions of 20-plus yards, Smith says the season "swallowed DeAndre Hopkins whole."
The Chronicle's John McClain takes a look at the playoff situation in the AFC and how easy it would have been to win the AFC South this season. If the Texans were 7-6 instead of 2-11, they would only be one game behind the Colts heading into this weekend's game in Indianapolis. The Texans still hope to win out, even though playoffs are no longer an option.
Texans tight end Garrett Graham didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday because of a hamstring injury. If he's out, rookie Ryan Griffin is ready to start, writes Dave Zangaro of CSNHouston.com.
