Greg Toler not taking part in workouts

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts cornerback Greg Toler is currently in the same position he was in during the team's AFC divisional playoff game in January: on the sideline watching his teammates work.

The team's medical officials are not letting Toler take part in the team's offseason workouts because he's still working his way back from surgery shortly after the season ended for a sports hernia.

"I'm fully healthy, we're just trying to get the scar tissue to break down and then get back running again," Toler said Wednesday at the team's facility. "I think the trainers want to slow roll me back into going full speed since I haven't really done anything since Week 10. I only know one meter, and that's go."

Staying healthy is the biggest question mark with Toler. He's yet to play a full 16-game season in his five-year career. He missed the entire 2011 season with a knee injury while with the Arizona Cardinals.

Toler played the first seven game last season before suffering a hamstring injury against the Denver Broncos. The injury kept him out eight weeks. He returned for three games, but re-injured it in the wild-card playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Toler finished with 17 tackles and an interception in nine games last season.

"Sometimes you ask why you have to go through situations," Toler said. "It only made me stronger. I have a lot to prove this year. I know my 16-game stack will stack up to any 16-game stack. I just have to be healthy. That's the biggest thing."
