Michael Smith's piece on Vince Young airs tonight as part of "E:60" on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.
I just talked to Smith to ask what's new in the story, since we've seen some of the early interview on SportsCenter.
Smith said the piece comes out of three separate interviews: One in June in Nashville; one in June in Houston that include a conversation with Young's mother; and a third a few weeks ago in Austin.
Although Young spoke at the Mississippi memorial service for Steve McNair, Smith's talk with Young about McNair's death is the first he's discussed it in an interview.
Also in the piece, more hashing out of what went down last September when Young asked out of the season opener against Jacksonville after he was booed and the bizarre night after it when police ended up searching for him fearing he was in danger.
Smith said he hopes the piece will provide us with a sense of why getting booed, something that seems so common, hit Young the way it did.
