Dumervil to take stand in murder trial

The Denver Post is reporting that star Denver Broncos linebacker Elvis Dumervil is about to testify Thursday in the Darrent Williams murder trial.

Dumervil will be the first Denver player to testify. Williams, a popular starting right cornerback, was shot and killed in the early morning of Jan. 1, 2007 in downtown Denver after attending a New Year’s Eve party.

Denver receiver Brandon Marshall is also on the witness list. Both Marshall and Dumervil are likely going to be restricted free agents beginning March 5. The team is expected to try to keep Dumervil, who led the NFL with 17 sacks last season.
