Marshall on stand in Williams trial

Denver Broncos star receiver Brandon Marshall is testifying in the Darrent Williams murder trial on Friday afternoon, the Denver Post reports.

Marshall said on the stand that he had words with Willie Clark. The Denver-area gang member is being tried for the murder of Williams, a popular starting right cornerback for the Broncos. Williams was shot and killed Jan. 1, 2007 after attending a New Year’s Eve party.

Witnesses have said that Marshall and his cousin got into altercations with Clark before the shooting.

It could be one of Marshall’s final appearances in Denver, he is likely going to be restricted free agent and Denver is expected to try to trade him. An NFL head coach said Friday at the NFL combine that he believes Denver will receive a first-round pick for Marshall.
