Could Brandon Marshall be in play again?
After a slow week, there are indications there could be interest. The National Football Post is reporting that the New York Jets are talking about making a run at the Broncos’ restricted free agent.
The report says the Jets would prefer to send a package of players for Marshall rather than give up their first-round pick. Denver gave the Pro Bowl receiver a first-round tender and it wants a first-round pick in return. The Jets have the No. 29 pick.
The Jets are going to be hard pressed to find a player who will impact the team like Marshall would -- he has had at least 100 catches in the past three seasons -- at No. 29.
If the Jets decide to pursue Marshall, perhaps they will decide it will be worth signing him to the tender and satisfy Denver’s wishes for a top pick in return for Marshall.
Marshall visited with Seattle last weekend. The Seahawks are not interested in giving up a first-round pick for Marshall at this point. Perhaps if the Jets make a move, it will prompt the Seahawks to become more aggressive.
