One of more impressive players in Denver's training camp so far is fourth-year cornerback Domonique Foxworth. He has been making play after play early in camp. He has intercepted several balls and he has covered well. His play has caught the eye of Denver coach Mike Shanahan.
"He had a big play (interception) today. Foxy has had a great camp and great OTAs, and that is what we are looking for -- guys that step up and get better," Shanahan said after today's morning practice. "Foxy has done that and helped himself."
This is a critical year for Foxworth. He will be an unrestricted free agent after the season. He received some mild play in the restricted free agent market this offseason. Foxworth, a third-round pick out of Maryland in 2005, has been a valuable contributor for Denver at both cornerback and at safety.
He entered training camp battling fellow free agent to be Karl Paymah for the nickel cornerback job. However, his early performance in camp has some folks wondering if Foxworth will push Dre Bly for the starting right cornerback job at some point this summer.
