AFC West hot seat

We're diverting a bit from our usual formula for the hot seat occupant this week. We are going for a coach, not a player this week. Also, we are taking someone from a team that won last week. Usually, the hot seat is reserved for a representative from a team that lost the week before.

We're putting San Diego coach Norv Turner on the hot seat.

Turner's Chargers' beat Kansas City at home on Sunday, but barely. The Chargers could have easily lost.

San Diego came out of the bye and was just as inconsistent as it was before the bye. Perhaps this team that was supposed to contend for a Super Bowl just isn't that good?

I still have a difficult time believing that, but something has to give soon. San Diego is going to have to show itself.

If the Chargers, 4-5, continue to play unevenly Sunday at Pittsburgh and the following week at home against Indianapolis, it will lose both of those games and have little chance of winning the AFC West even though 5-4 Denver isn't exactly running away with the division.

Turner's team was booed loudly in the first half against Kansas City. The Chargers have not made the home folks happy and Turner has to find a way to change that.
