The Denver Post takes a look at Stan Kroenke’s attempt to become the majority owner of the St. Louis Rams. He is the owner of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets and the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche. The NFL has cross-ownership rules in place that prevent majority owners from owning other professional sports teams. Kroenke’s attempt will be on the radar of Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen.

He likely won’t be thrilled about the idea of having a competing owner getting more resources from Bowlen’s home-base city. Still, there may be ways for Kroenke to circumvent these rules, such as putting the team in the name of a family member.

UPDATE: Tuesday night, a St. Louis television station reported that Kroenke is prepared to give control of the hockey and basketball teams in Denver to family members to be able to gain control of the Rams. The Broncos and the NFL may have to live with that arrangement.
  • With the NFL schedule expected to come out this month, here is another look at the strength of schedule for each team.
