The following is a look at why I placed the AFC West teams where I did in the Week 12 NFL power rankings.

Denver Broncos

Power ranking: 15

Where I ranked them: I had Denver ranked 13th. I'm still not sure the Broncos have put their midseason problems behind them, but they have won two big road games and they are in control of the AFC West. I may have them ranked a bit high, but the Broncos have been impressive of late.

San Diego Chargers

Power ranking: 22

Where I ranked them: I had San Diego ranked 23rd. This team just continues to tumble. Frankly, I got tired of ranking this team too high. All season long, I believed the Chargers would get their act together, but they haven't. This is where they belong in the rankings.

Kansas City Chiefs

Power ranking: 30

Where I ranked them: I had the Chiefs ranked 31st. The Bengals tied Philadelphia and Kansas City lost fairly handily to New Orleans. The Chiefs did not make strides this week. So they stay where they belong.

Oakland Raiders

Power ranking: 31

Where I ranked them: I had Oakland ranked 30th. Again, this is where the team belongs. It's a lower-level team, and you could argue that Oakland is the worst team in the league.
