SAN DIEGO -- The first quarter just ended. Not the point explosion we envisioned. Not yet at least.

Both the Colts and Chargers have had their share of big plays, but ultimately both defenses made key plays to stop threats. The Colts led 3-0 but the Chargers added a field goal to tie the game at 3-3.

San Diego's defense tightened in the red zone late in the first quarter, forcing the Colts to settle for a short field goal. The Chargers are putting good pressure on Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. He has constantly had to hurry passes.

The Chargers have had difficulty getting the run game going again. LaDainian Tomlinson was stopped on third and goal inside the Chargers' 20 midway through the first quarter,

Meanwhile, Colts star center Jeff Saturday has a leg injury and he is questionable to return to the game.
