The following is a look at why I placed the AFC West teams where I did in the Week 13 NFL power rankings:

Denver Broncos

Power ranking: 19

Where I ranked them: I had Denver ranked 19th. Any good momentum Denver built for itself with back-to-back road wins was destroyed by an embarrassing loss at home to Oakland. Denver is terribly inconsistent and sometimes they are just terrible.

San Diego Chargers

Power ranking: 22

Where I ranked them: I had San Diego ranked 22nd. The Chargers are actually playing pretty well right now. They played very well in back-to-back losses in Pittsburgh and at home to Indianapolis. Still, San Diego is 4-7 and it shouldn't be ranked any higher.

Oakland

Power ranking: 26

Where I ranked them: Good for the Raiders. That was a big win in Denver. I had them leap up to 26th. They are still 3-8 so we can't justify picking them higher.

Kansas City Chiefs

Power ranking: 31

Where I ranked them: I had the Chiefs ranked 31st. The Chiefs are back to their old selves. If it weren't for Detroit, the Chiefs would be the worst team in the league right now.
