The following is a look at why I placed the AFC West teams where I did in the Week 14 NFL power rankings:

Denver Broncos

  • Power ranking: 14
  • Where I ranked them: I had Denver ranked 15th. This is a perplexing team. One week, they are impressive, the next they are embarrassing. This week, Denver is impressive as it comes off its win over the Jets. The Broncos are inconsistent for sure, but they are capable of winning some big games.

San Diego Chargers

  • Power ranking: 23
  • Where I ranked them: I had San Diego ranked 23rd. I had the Chargers as the highest-ranked 4-8 team in the league. I'm not sure why. This team has lost five of six games and has been a total failure.

Kansas City Chiefs

  • Power ranking: 27
  • Where I ranked them: I had the Chiefs ranked 27th. I went against my usual criteria and ranked the 2-10 Chiefs higher than the 3-9 Raiders. But I figured both records are horrendous so what's the difference between 3-9 and 2-10? Plus, the Chiefs just beat Oakland so I went with the Chiefs over the Raiders.

Oakland Raiders

  • Power ranking: 28
  • Where I ranked them: I had the Raiders ranked 28th this week. I just couldn't put them higher than the Chiefs. It was as simple as that.
