Leggett

Kansas City cornerback Maurice Leggett has been named the AFC special teams player of the week, the team said in a release Tuesday.

Leggett was involved in one of the more comical plays of the NFL season Sunday in the Chiefs' 20-13 win over Oakland. The undrafted rookie scored on 67-yard return on a muffed Oakland field goal attempt. It was the defining play of the game.

Oakland attempted a fake field goal with the ball designed to go to kicker Sebastian Janikowski. But the play was a failure from conception. Leggett scooped up the missed connection between holder Shane Lechler and Janikowski and easily scored.

The play fueled Kansas City's second win of the season.
