Want more evidence that we’re all getting old?

The Duke turns 50 Monday.

Seemingly a day after his career ended with a Super Bowl win over Atlanta in January of 1999, John Elway is turning a half century.

That was fast.

It seems like Elway is thriving as he enters he hits his milestone. In an interview with the Denver Post, Elway says he would be interesting in buying a piece of the Denver Broncos, where he earned legendary status as the team's quarterback for 16 seasons. If not, Elway would like to pursue a career with another team.

"That's always a possibility, but it really depends on what Pat's (Denver owner Pat Bowlen) going to do," Elway said. "Would I like to be a part owner? Yes. I'd like for it to happen here. If not, and there is an opportunity somewhere else, I'd definitely look at that, too."

Don’t count on Elway having an interst in another NFL franchise. Bowlen loves Elway and the two were partners in Denver’s Arena League franchise. Bowlen is getting older. I’m sure if Elway makes a pitch for him to get a piece of the Broncos, Bowlen will bite.

It would be only fitting that Elway spends the second half of his life trying to reestablish what he built in Denver.
