Evening AFC West notes

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- While I’m visiting Chiefs camp, let’s take some time to catch up on some evening headlines:

  • Tyrone Green is getting some first-team repetitions at left tackle in San Diego as the Chargers continue to look at options during the holdout of starter Marcus McNeill.

  • Oakland reserve quarterback Charlie Frye will have wrist surgery. This opens the door for Kyle Boller to make the 53-man roster.

  • Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said he has not talked to the Broncos about trading for any of their cornerbacks.

  • Despite a poor outing in the preseason opener at Cincinnati on Sunday, Brady Quinn is holding off rookie Tim Tebow as Denver’s No. 2 quarterback. That could change if Tebow plays well against Detroit on Saturday and Quinn struggles again.

  • Guard Chris Kuper and linebacker D.J. Williams are working their way back to health in Denver.
