Ryan Clady’s return to practice in Denver was our “you pick it” feature winner this week.

The other candidates were Oakland running back Michael Bush breaking his thumb and Oakland receiver Chaz Schilens undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

I agree with the readers. The Bush and Schilens’ stories are big, but both players will likely be out for a limited time. The Clady story is big because it has been several months in the making. Clady suffered a knee injury while playing basketball in April. Clady is an All-Pro left tackle and his presence is crucial for Denver.

Below are some of your responses. Thanks to everyone who participated:

Steve from Chicago: The Broncos aren’t anything without Clady. His return gives Denver a chance in 2010. It’s, by far, the story of the week.

Frankie from San Jose: The story is Clady returning to practice. He is one of the best players in the NFL. It’s a huge story.

Joel from Davis, Calif.: Michael Bush's thumb is a big blow to Oaklands offense. He has been there only steady back this preseason with McFadden having a hamstring issue. If McFadden does not show something against the Seahawks and Bush misses the first couple games then Oaklands offense will be drastically one sided and the passing game is not the brightest side of Oakldands offense far.

Marcus D. from Oceanside, Calif.: It has to be Bush breaking his thumb. He was clearly pulling away from DMAC in the race due to DMAC's time in the training room. Now it will have to be a two headed monster with DMAC getting more carries between the tackles. Hopefully the tandem can do the regular 16 games healthy or don't be surprised to see Fargas back in camp!

Ryan from Antioch, Calif.: The 'you pick it' this week would be a clear winner if perhaps you combined the injuries/surgeries to both Schilens and Bush because the Raiders need them both if they are going to have a decent offense this year...However, it has to be Ryan Clady coming back. He's been out for months and he is also a key part of Denver's offense. We all want to know how well he can perform coming off a bad injury and not having much practice before the start of the season.

Mike from Denver: It has to be the Clady story. This thing has been four months in the making. It’s gigantic.

DJ Mbenga from the Golden State: Schilens' surgery is the most notable story in my opinion. Think about how huge it would be for the Raiders if Chaz could stay healthy. Here we have a guy with the speed, size, hands, and route running ability of a stud wide out, but the guy just can't stay healthy. With him sidelined for a few weeks here the Raiders are now very thin at the position and a DHB or Lou Murph injury away from a complete disaster. Schilens needs to get healthy and be able to play 12 games this year for this offense to succeed to the fullest.

Samuel Feldman from Aurora, Co.: The biggest story has to be ryan clady comeing back. He has been great for the protection of Ortan you just can't argue in his first season he went to the pro bowl. Without clady ortan would be sacked 10 or 15 more times. Plus with how important it is him comeing back to weeks before the opener.
