Still no progress on Vincent Jackson trade

9/21/2010

There are 19 shopping hours remaining in the Vincent Jackson sweepstakes.

By all accounts, there seems to be a lot of work to be done before the holdout Pro Bowl holdout receiver becomes a former San Diego Charger.

The San Diego Union Tribune reports there are teams interested -- and that has always been the case. The Vikings are certainly one of the teams most interested in Jackson.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Chargers were still not of the mind to give Jackson away. They must be pleased with a trade compensation package. If not, he will not be traded by the 4 p.m. deadline Wednesday.

Under a settlement reached Thursday, Jackson has to sit out the first four games of the season -- instead of six -- if he is traded by 4 p.m. Wednesday. If that window closes without a deal, Jackson will only be able to be traded after the Chargers’ sixth game Oct. 17 and before the Oct. 19 trade deadline.

The clock is ticking.
